Etisalat donates computers to improve ICT literacy in Zaria
ETISALAT has given 30 desktop computers to improve Communication and Info Technology education in the Nuhu Bamali Primary School, Fadi Sanka community in Zaria, Kaduna State.
The telecommunications company presented the computers to the school management http://teams.datafactories.org/ headed by the Headmistress, Hajia Asmau Mohammed Lawan, during a recent commissioning of facilities which also contain blocks of school buildings that were renovated.
Speaking in the commissioning service, the Vice President, Government and Regulatory Affairs, Etisalat Nigeria, Ibrahim Dikko, said the intervention was in line with all the company's commitment to increase the grade of education in Nigeria through quality partnership with all the applicable tiers of government to produce the sector.
«It has been a very exciting encounter and an eye-opening opportunity for people at Etisalat, to make an improved and conducive learning environment for Nigerian children. We applaud the Kaduna State government for supporting this type of public-private partnership that has given birth to a new Nuhu Bamali Primary School.»
Dikko, who also noted that ICT education has turned into a basic component of learning due to its attendant benefits, included that the country would gain most if students in primary and secondary schools are exposed to it.
In her remarks, the Headmistress of the school, Hajia Asmau Mohammed Lawan, commended Etisalat Nigeria for the computers which use is hoped will go a long way in giving the pupils the cutting edge education needed to prepare them for their individual career paths. She also encouraged the pupils of the institution to make the most of the facilities to improve themselves and become better people as time goes on.
Dignitaries in the commissioning are the Kaduna State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Dr. Shehu Usman Adamu,; Chairman, Kaduna State Fundamental Instruction Board, Shuaibu Dabo; Chairman Zaria Local Government Region, Jafaru Abbas, Magajin Garu Zazzau, Alhaji Ahmed Nuhu Bamali and members of the Zaria Emirate council.
